Indeed released a report of the top cities for job-seekers, and Austin came in 4th, the Austin Business Journal reports.
Austin’s work-life balance was one of the reasons it scored so high. Austin also has high average salaries relative to other cities on the list and Austin’s unemployment rate is the 2nd lowest in the state and much lower than the national average.
Most of the best cities for job-seekers were located in the south and west, specifically Texas, California, and Florida. Workers seem to be seeking warmer clients and moving away from the cold midwest, especially as the manufacturing jobs there have dried up.
The study examined job market favorability, salary weighted for the cost of living, work/life balance, and job security and advancement in the top 50 metropolitan cities in the country to come up with its ranking.
Austin scored 90% on the Job Market Favorability, 59% on Salary, 80% on Work-Life Balance, and 69% on Job Security and Advancement, for an overall score of 82.1%.
Miami, Orlando, and Raleigh, North Carolina took the top three spots above Austin.
